Recycling Cannabis Containers and Products at AMCH

t’s safe to say that if you enjoy cannabis, you’ve probably had a moment or two where you find yourself with a stash of containers and packaging from your smoke seshes that you don’t really know what to do with.

Did you know you can actually recycle most of your cannabis containers? Green For Green and Alternative Medicine Capitol Hill are here to help.

Green For Green is a movement that aims to recycle single-use cannabis packaging products through innovative techniques. They proudly partner with dispensaries like Alternative Medicine Capitol Hill to divert waste from landfills under their mission of “from seed to sale sustainability solutions”.

Why Recycling Cannabis Packaging Matters

While we’re in the “green” industry, cannabis production and sale can be incredibly wasteful, especially with the common use of single-use packaging. Expert studies show that the recycling rates for plastic containers in Colorado are minuscule, with only 9% of plastic containers and packaging recycled statewide. The rest of these items, including single-use cannabis packaging, end up in landfills, causing a significant and long-term impact on the planet.

Recycling cannabis packaging is a great way for both dispensaries and individual consumers to reduce their environmental impact. Green For Green encourages conscious-minded individuals to work towards a greener society, which will, in turn, not only help the environment but also create a positive image for the industry.

What Can Be Recycled at AMCH

When you visit AMCH, you’ll find recycling containers specific for cannabis packaging. All you have to do is drop off your items, and Green For Green takes care of the rest. The recycled items are processed by experts and transformed into countless useful products.

Nearly any piece of cannabis packaging can be recycled at AMCH. However, there are a few items that are strictly prohibited from being tossed in the bin:

  1. No organic products. The Marihuana Enforcement Division requires all organic products to be removed from packaging before they’re disposed of in the bin.
  2. No liquids. Removing all the liquids makes the recycling process safer, easier, and more efficient.
  3. No trash or other recyclable products. Our partnership with Green For Green focuses on recycling cannabis packaging only.
